Member Registration

To be recognised as a member of APRASSA and thus be considered "board-certified", an applicant must be fully trained through an accredited university and be qualified as a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. Membership to APRASSA is not automatic and requires that applicant meet admission requirements and furthermore that the applicant be voted in by the current member body of APRASSA.

Benefits of membership include:


  1. Being part of the community of plastic surgeons in South Africa.
  2. Using APRASSA as an advisory service for coding, billing, consent, ethics, etc.
  3. Assistance with regulatory matters and practice management.
  4. Educational content:
    1. Access to PRS and PRS Global Open, Aesthetic Surgery Journal, JPRAS, Clinics in Plastic surgery,
    2. Access to QMP video streaming environment,
    3. Access to regular journal club and the opportunity to gain CPD points.
  5. Access to an educational trust fund to which members can apply for suitable research projects.
  6. Reduced fee for the annual congress.
  7. A united voice which speaks for the community of plastic surgeons in regard to issues such as
    CON, NHI and other political matters which may arise.
  8. APRASSA negotiates and liaises with the medical aids and the HPCSA as well as other specialist bodies.
  9. Being part of Healthman. They assist us with coding queries, liaison with medical aids, assistance with
    regulatory and business matters
  10. Being part of the South African Private Practitioners Forum (SAPPF).
