Dr Dirk Lazarus is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon in private practice since 1998. In 2005 he built his own clinic, Tranquility Clinic, where he performs all cosmetic surgery. Dr Lazarus also worked as a sessional consultant at the Cleft Unit at Red Cross Children's Hospital from 1998-2017 and is a past chair and President of the South African Cleft Lip and Palate Society. He has been a volunteer plastic surgeon with Operation Smile from 2012 and still continues with this work.
Dr Lazarus received his MBChB in 1985 and went on to specialise in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery at the University of Cape Town. He obtained his specialist qualification in 1997.
Dr Dirk Lazarus is a full member of the Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons of Southern Africa (APRASSA) and serves on the executive board. He is also a member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). In his spare time he enjoys walking his dogs on the mountain, kitesurfing and learning to play the piano.
