VAGINAL REJUVENATION SURGERY

VAGINAL REJUVENATION SURGERY

Vaginal rejuvenation surgery restores a tighter and narrower vaginal canal and opening. Childbirth, pregnancy, weight changes and ageing can cause the vaginal muscles and tissues to become relaxed, stretched, torn, and even protrude from the opening. These concerns can be repaired with vaginal rejuvenation surgery, also called vaginal tightening or vaginoplasty.

Procedure

Vaginal rejuvenation surgery aims to repair and tighten the vaginal canal. Through an incision in the perineum (the area between the vaginal opening and the anus), the surgeon can remove excess skin and tissues, tighten the length of the vaginal canal, and reduce the size of the vaginal opening.

This procedure is often combined with labia reduction, which involves reshaping enlarged lips of the vulva.

One to two hours.

General anaesthesia is typically chosen for best results and greatest patient comfort. However, some patients may choose local anaesthesia.

This is an outpatient procedure, meaning the patient can leave the surgical facility the same day after recovery from anaesthesia.

Risks include infection, bleeding, numbness, pain during intercourse, loss of sensation, and scarring.

Patients typically experience swelling and discomfort, which is more pronounced with extensive repair. Patients can return to work within two weeks and must limit physical activity for six to twelve weeks. Sexual activity may be resumed after approximately six weeks. After vaginal rejuvenation, patients must avoid strenuous exercises that include running or weight lifting. The surgeon will advise the patient on specifics of postoperative care after vaginal rejuvenation surgery.

After vaginal rejuvenation, patients enjoy increased self-confidence, comfort and greater sexual satisfaction.
