NON-SURGICAL BODY CONTOURING

NON-SURGICAL BODY CONTOURING

Non-surgical body contouring provides minor fat reduction and body contouring without surgery. Non-surgical body contouring procedures reduce pockets of fat to contour the body for a more toned appearance. Although non-surgical body contouring isn't a weight loss solution, it can enable patients to reach their weight loss goals.

Non-surgical body contouring procedures include:

  • Lipolysis injections
  • Radiofrequency lipolysis
  • Laser lipolysis
  • Cryolipolysis (often referred to as cool sculpting)

Procedure

There are a variety of options available for non-surgical body contouring and fat reduction, which use a range of technologies. All are designed to destroy fat cells that lie just beneath the skin (subcutaneous fat) without harming the surface of the skin. Examples include CoolSculpting® which freezes the fat through Cryolipolisis; ZERONA® which uses low-grade laser energy; and UltraShape® and Liposonix® which use ultrasound energy. * Multiple treatments may be required with certain technologies.

These non-surgical treatments are designed for people who have reached a healthy body weight. Liposuction is better suited for precise body contouring and removing larger volumes of fat.

The length of non-surgical body contouring depends on the technology and the size and number of areas being treated.

No anaesthesia is needed.

These non-surgical body contouring treatments are performed as outpatient procedures.

Some patients experience temporary redness, minor bruising, numbness, tingling or discomfort. With certain technologies, numbness may persist for several weeks. Scarring may occur if the treatment is used to remove more than the superficial surface layer of fat. Uneven results may occur. But compared to surgical procedures such as liposuction, non-surgical body contouring is less risky and doesn’t involve invasive surgery or anaesthesia.

No downtime is required.

Because the body naturally eliminates the treated fat cells, results typically appear gradually over two or more weeks. Once achieved, final results are permanent and can be maintained with sensible eating and regular exercise.
